Summary
CVE-2025-1149 is a newly identified vulnerability in GNU Binutils 2.43. This issue, classified as problematic, affects the function xstrdup in the file libiberty/xmalloc.c of the component ld. The manipulation results in amemory leak, which can be exploited remotely, albeit with a rather high complexity. The exploitability of this vulnerability is reported to be difficult, and an exploit has already been made public. To mitigate this risk, it is strongly recommended that users apply the available patch as soon as possible. The code maintainer has stated that the patch will not be committed to the 2.44 branch due to potential destabilization concerns.
