Summary

CVE-2024-9836 is a stored cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the RSS Feed Widget plugin for WordPress. Prior to version 3.0.0, this plugin does not properly validate and escape shortcode attributes. As a result, users with the contributor role and above can inject malicious scripts into pages or posts where the vulnerable shortcode is used. Successful exploitation of this vulnerability could lead to the execution of arbitrary code in the context of the affected website. It is highly recommended that users upgrade to the latest version of the plugin to mitigate this risk.
