Details
Summary
CVE-2024-9779 is a vulnerability affecting Open Cluster Management (OCM) where users with access to worker nodes can exploit a flaw in the cluster-manager deployment. The cluster-manager uses a service account with the same name, "cluster-manager," which is bound to a ClusterRole granting permissions to create Pod resources. If an attacker is able to run a pod on their controlled node, they can obtain the cluster-manager's token and steal other service account tokens by creating and mounting the targeted service accounts, ultimately gaining control of the entire cluster.
