Summary
CVE-2024-9720 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting Trimble SketchUp Viewer. Malicious SKP files can cause the software to read past the end of an allocated buffer, leading to out-of-bounds memory access and code execution. The flaw occurs due to insufficient validation of user-supplied data. Exploitation requires user interaction, such as visiting a malicious webpage or opening a specially crafted file. This vulnerability, previously identified as ZDI-CAN-24104, can allow attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the affected installation.
