Summary
CVE-2024-9715 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting Trimble SketchUp Viewer. Malicious SKP files can be used to exploit this issue, which stems from insufficient validation of file contents during parsing. The lack of object existence checks leads to use-after-free conditions, enabling attackers to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current process. User interaction, such as visiting a malicious page or opening a malicious file, is necessary for exploitation. This vulnerability, originally reported as ZDI-CAN-24098, poses a significant risk to affected installations.
