Summary

CVE-2024-9260 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting IrfanView, caused by an out-of-bounds write issue during SID file parsing. The flaw arises from insufficient validation of user-supplied data, enabling attackers to write data beyond the allocated buffer. Exploitation requires users to visit a malicious webpage or open a specially crafted file.
