Summary

CVE-2024-9119 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the SVG Complete plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to and including 1.0.2, allows authenticated attackers with Author-level access or higher to inject malicious scripts into SVG files. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping during the upload process, resulting in the execution of these scripts whenever a user accesses the affected SVG file. Successful exploitation could lead to unintended website functionality, unauthorized access, or data theft. It is imperative that users update to the latest version of the plugin or disable it until a patch is available to mitigate this risk.
