Summary
CVE-2024-9118 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the QS Dark Mode Plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to and including 2.9, enables authenticated attackers with Author-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts. The vulnerability arises due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping during SVG file uploads. The successful exploitation of this weakness allows attackers to execute their injected scripts whenever a user accesses the affected SVG file, posing a significant threat to website security.
