Summary

CVE-2024-9113 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting FastStone Image Viewer. Malicious TGA files can trigger an out-of-bounds write issue during parsing, allowing attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected systems. User interaction is necessary for exploitation, as the target must visit a malicious webpage or open a maliciously crafted file. The root cause of this vulnerability is insufficient data validation, resulting in a buffer overflow. This issue was identified as ZDI-CAN-25140 prior to its public disclosure.
