Summary
CVE-2024-8991 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the OSM – OpenStreetMap plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to and including 6.1.0, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject malicious scripts into the plugin's osm_map and osm_map_v3 shortcodes. As a result, these scripts will execute whenever an unsuspecting user accesses an affected page, potentially leading to data theft, unauthorized account access, or other malicious activities. This vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes.
