Summary

CVE-2024-8989 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Free Responsive Testimonials, Social Proof Reviews, and Customer Reviews – Stars Testimonials plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 3.3.1, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject malicious scripts into pages via the stars_testimonials shortcode. The lack of proper input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes leads to the execution of the injected scripts whenever a user accesses an affected page.
