Summary

CVE-2024-8834 is a new information disclosure vulnerability affecting PDF-XChange Editor. This issue is caused by an out-of-bounds read in the TIF file parsing process, which allows remote attackers to access sensitive information on affected systems. The flaw arises due to insufficient validation of user-supplied data, leading to reading past the end of an allocated object. While this vulnerability does not directly enable code execution, it can be combined with other weaknesses for more serious attacks. The ZDI team identified this flaw as ZDI-CAN-24319 prior to its public disclosure.
