Summary
CVE-2024-8826 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting PDF-XChange Editor. This issue is caused by an out-of-bounds read in the XPS file parsing process. When processing a malicious XPS file, an attacker can exploit this vulnerability by forcefully reading memory past the end of an allocated object, leading to code execution in the context of the current process. Successful exploitation requires user interaction, such as visiting a malicious webpage or opening a maliciously crafted file.
