Summary

CVE-2024-8809 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting Cohesive Networks VNS3. This issue allows unauthenticated attackers to inject and execute arbitrary commands on impacted installations of VNS3. The flaw is located in the web service, which listens on the default TCP port 8000. The vulnerability arises due to insufficient validation of user-supplied inputs, leading to code injection and potential root access. This vulnerability, identified as ZDI-CAN-24178, was reported to the Zero Day Initiative.
