Summary
CVE-2024-8743 is a recently disclosed vulnerability affecting the Bit File Manager plugin for WordPress. This open-source file manager and code editor is used by many WordPress sites, and its flaw allows authenticated attackers, with Subscriber-level access or higher, to upload .css and .js files despite lacking proper file type checks. This vulnerability paves the way for Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) attacks, potentially putting sensitive user data at risk. The vulnerability persists up to and including version 6.5.7, and WordPress users are advised to update to the latest version or use alternative, secure methods for handling file uploads.
