Summary

CVE-2024-8486 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Phlox theme plugin for WordPress. The issue lies in the insufficient input sanitization and output escaping of the 'url' parameter in the Modern Heading and Icon Picker widgets, which are used in all versions up to and including 2.16.3. This weakness enables authenticated attackers, with Contributor-level access and higher, to inject malicious web scripts that execute whenever a user accesses a manipulated page.
