Summary
CVE-2024-7819 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting the danswer-ai/danswer software version 1.4.1. This issue is caused by a misconfiguration of Cross-Origin Resource Sharing (CORS), which results in inadequate validation of the origin header. Malicious web pages can exploit this weakness to issue unauthorized requests to the application's API, potentially leading to the theft of sensitive information, such as chat contents, API keys, and other data. The CORS misconfiguration puts users at risk of data exfiltration. It is recommended that users update to the latest version of the software to mitigate this vulnerability.
