Summary

CVE-2024-7547 is a stack-based buffer overflow vulnerability affecting oFono SMS Decoder. This issue allows local attackers to execute arbitrary code on impacted modems, given they have the ability to execute code first. The flaw is located in the parsing of SMS Protocol Data Units (PDUs), where user-supplied data length is not adequately validated before copying it to a stack-based buffer. An attacker can exploit this weakness to gain privilege escalation as the service account. (Previously identified as ZDI-CAN-23460.)
