Summary
CVE-2024-7521 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting Firefox versions below 129, Firefox ESR below 115.14, Firefox ESR below 128.1, Thunderbird below 128.1, and Thunderbird below 115.14. This issue is rooted in incomplete WebAssembly exception handling, which could potentially result in a use-after-free condition. A use-after-free occurs when memory that has already been freed is accessed again, leading to unpredictable behavior or system instability. Malicious actors could exploit this vulnerability to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial-of-service condition, posing a significant risk to users.
