Summary

CVE-2024-7033 is a vulnerability affecting version 0.3.8 of open-webui/open-webui. It involves an arbitrary file write issue in the download_model endpoint. On Windows systems, the application fails to properly manage file paths, enabling attackers to alter the file path and write files to any location they choose on the server. The consequences of this vulnerability can be severe, including overwriting critical files, causing denial of service, or even leading to remote code execution (RCE). Successful exploitation of RCE grants the attacker the same privileges as the running user, potentially resulting in a full system compromise.
