Summary

CVE-2024-6639 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the MDx theme for WordPress. The weakness lies in the 'mdx_list_item' shortcode, which does not properly sanitize and escape user-supplied attributes. This flaw enables authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject malicious web scripts into pages. These scripts will execute each time an injected page is accessed, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution and data theft.
