Summary

CVE-2024-56946 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting Technitium DNS Server version 13.2.2 and below. Malicious actors can exploit this issue by triggering unhandled exceptions in listener threads of the DNS-over-QUIC feature, rendering the server incapable of accepting new DNS-over-QUIC connections permanently. The attack results in a denial-of-service condition, impeding the availability of DNS services for legitimate users. The severity of this vulnerability is high, as it allows remote attackers to disrupt the targeted DNS infrastructure. It is recommended that affected organizations upgrade to the latest version of Technitium DNS Server to mitigate this threat.
