Summary
CVE-2024-55605 is a vulnerability affecting Suricata, an open-source network Intrusion Detection System and Security Monitoring engine. Prior to version 7.0.8, certain input functions, including to_lowercase, to_uppercase, strip_whitespace, compress_whitespace, dotprefix, header_lowercase, strip_pseudo_headers, url_decode, and xor transform, contain large input buffers. An attacker could exploit this issue by supplying maliciously crafted input data, leading to a stack overflow. Consequently, Suricata would crash, potentially disrupting network security operations. The vulnerability has been rectified in Suricata 7.0.8.
