Summary
CVE-2024-55414 is a newly discovered vulnerability affecting Motorola SM56 Modem WDM Driver v6.12.23.0 and its associated driver SmSerl64.sys. The issue permits low-privileged users to map physical memory through carefully crafted IOCTL requests, granting potential attackers capabilities for privilege escalation, code execution under high privileges, and information disclosure. Malicious actors can even bypass Microsoft's driver-signing policy using these signed drivers to deploy harmful code.
