CVE-2024-5513

Summary

CVE-2024-5513 is a remote code execution vulnerability affecting Kofax Power PDF. This issue arises due to insufficient validation of user-supplied data during JP2 file parsing, allowing an attacker to write data beyond the allocated buffer. Exploitation requires user interaction, such as visiting a malicious webpage or opening a malicious file. Successful exploitation grants the attacker the ability to execute arbitrary code in the context of the current process. This vulnerability was identified as ZDI-CAN-22044 prior to its publication.
