Summary
CVE-2024-53217 is a newly identified vulnerability in the Linux kernel. This issue affects the NFS (Network File System) subsystem and specifically the nfsd4_process_cb_update() function. In certain circumstances, a NULL dereference can occur due to an uninitialized pointer @ses. If no available backchannel session is found by __nfsd4_find_backchannel(), setup_callback_client() will attempt to dereference @ses, resulting in a segfault. This vulnerability has been resolved in recent Linux kernel updates.
