Summary

CVE-2024-53136 is a vulnerability in the Linux kernel that has been addressed. The issue was caused by the reversion of a patch in the "shmem: fix data-race in shmem_getattr()" function, which resulted in deadlocks when accessing tmpfs over NFS. The patch was initially implemented to quiet down a syzbot sanitizer warning, but in reality, it did not cause any practical problems before the reversion.
