Details
Summary
CVE-2024-53116 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel's drm/panthor driver. The issue lies in the inadequate handling of partial GPU mapping of buffer objects (BOs). Specifically, the driver failed to correctly manage offset variables when dealing with scatterlists that span multiple pages. As a result, the system produced kernel warnings and failed to unmap certain memory ranges, leading to potential security and performance implications. These warnings were observed in the kernel logs, and the issue was addressed through a subsequent commit to the Linux kernel.
