Summary
CVE-2024-53033 is a newly identified memory corruption vulnerability. This issue arises when the system processes an escape call, and a user supplies a valid kernel address instead of a valid user buffer address. The corruption of memory in this scenario can potentially allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code or cause the system to crash. This vulnerability poses a significant risk, especially in environments where users have the ability to pass kernel addresses. Mitigations include applying patches and implementing access control policies to limit the ability to pass kernel addresses to untrusted sources.
