Summary
CVE-2024-52523 is a vulnerability affecting Nextcloud Server, a self-hosted personal cloud system. When users or administrators define external storage with fixed credentials, the API inadvertently reveals these credentials in plain text during an active session. This issue poses a significant risk, as an attacker who has already gained access to a user's session can now read sensitive data. To mitigate this threat, users are advised to upgrade Nextcloud Server to versions 28.0.12, 29.0.9, or 30.0.2, and Nextcloud Enterprise Server to versions 25.0.13.14, 26.0.13.10, 27.1.11.10, 28.0.12, 29.0.9, or 30.0.2.
