Summary
CVE-2024-50113 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel's Firewire subsystem. In a specific commit aimed at refactoring enumeration over self ID sequence, the assignment of the index for a port connected to a parent device was found to be incorrect. This issue can result in a WARN_ON() and a general protection fault when three or more nodes with extra ports are connected to a 1394 OHCI controller. The bug has been rectified by assigning the correct port index in the commit fix.
