Summary

CVE-2024-48986 is a vulnerability affecting MBed OS 6.16.0. The issue lies in the hci parsing software, which determines packet length by reading the header byte. Certain events trigger a callback, causing a dynamically allocated buffer to be used for processing. However, the write operation copies the entire packet data instead of the expected length, resulting in a potential buffer overflow. This vulnerability can be easily exploited for a denial-of-service attack but may not allow further exploitation due to the dynamic buffer allocation.
