Details
Summary
CVE-2024-42160 is a newly identified vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel's f2fs file system. The issue lies in the lack of validation checks for fault attributes in the function f2fs_build_fault_attr(). This oversight was discovered in parse_options(), and it has been addressed by adding a check condition in f2fs_build_fault_attr(). To enhance code cleanliness, f2fs_build_fault_attr() is now used in __sbi_store() instead of the original implementation. This vulnerability could potentially lead to unintended file system behavior or data corruption if exploited.
