Summary

CVE-2024-39943 is a critical vulnerability that affects rejetto HFS (aka HTTP File Server) 3 before version 0.52.10 on Linux, UNIX, and macOS. This vulnerability allows remote authenticated users with Upload permissions to execute arbitrary OS commands by using a shell to execute df instead of spawnSync in child_process in Node.js. The potential danger this vulnerability poses to an organization is high, as it can allow an attacker to execute arbitrary commands on the affected system, potentially gaining unauthorized access or causing other malicious actions.
