CVE-2024-38926

Summary

CVE-2024-38926 is a use-after-free vulnerability affecting Open Robotics Robotic Operating System 2 (ROS2) and Nav2 in certain humble versions. This issue is introduced through the nav2_amcl process and can be exploited remotely by sending a request to change the value of the dynamic-parameter `/amcl z_short`. Once triggered, the vulnerability results in memory being accessed even after it has been freed, potentially leading to arbitrary code execution or denial-of-service conditions.
