CVE-2024-38329 is a vulnerability that affects IBM Storage Protect for Virtual Environments: Data Protection for VMware versions through It allows a remote authenticated attacker to bypass security restrictions due to improper validation of user permissions. By sending a specially crafted request, the attacker can exploit this vulnerability to change settings, trigger backups, restore backups, and delete all previous backups through log rotation. This vulnerability has a high base severity rating and an impact score of 4.0, with low privileges required and no user interaction needed. It poses a potential danger to organizations as it could lead to unauthorized access and manipulation of data backups in VMware environments.
