Summary
CVE-2024-38262 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting the Windows Remote Desktop Licensing Service. Hackers can exploit this remote code execution (RCE) weakness to gain unauthorized access to vulnerable systems. The flaw exists due to inadequate input validation, allowing an attacker to send specially crafted packets to the RDP-Tcp listener. Successful exploitation results in the execution of arbitrary code on the targeted machine, potentially leading to significant data loss or system compromise. Microsoft has released a security advisory and patches are available for affected versions of Windows. It is recommended that organizations prioritize installing these updates to mitigate this risk.
