Summary
CVE-2024-37880 is a newly disclosed vulnerability affecting the Kyber reference implementation. This issue arises when the software is compiled using LLVM Clang versions up to 18.x with certain optimization options. The weakness lies in the poly_frommsg function in poly.c, which fails to prevent the emission of a secret-dependent branch. Attackers can exploit this timing side channel to recover an ML-KEM 512 secret key in a matter of minutes.
