Summary
CVE-2024-36477 is a vulnerability affecting the Linux kernel's TPM SPI transfer mechanism. The issue arises due to the failure to account for a 4-byte header in the calculation of the maximum transfer length and the size of the transfer buffer. Consequently, out-of-bounds accesses can occur, leading to potential security vulnerabilities. This issue has been resolved by introducing the constant SPI_HDRSIZE to account for the header size when allocating the transfer buffer.
