Summary

CVE-2024-30961 is an Insecure Permissions vulnerability affecting Open Robotics Robotic Operating System 2 (ROS2) and specifically the navigation2-ROS2-humble and navigation2-humble packages. This issue enables a local attacker to execute arbitrary code through the error-thrown mechanism present in the nav2_bt_navigator component. By taking advantage of these inadequate permissions, an adversary can exploit the vulnerability and potentially gain unauthorized access or manipulate the system. This weakness poses a significant risk to robotics applications using ROS2 and highlights the importance of implementing robust access control measures.
