Summary
CVE-2024-2800 is a denial-of-service vulnerability affecting GitLab Enterprise Edition (EE) and Community Edition (CE) versions prior to 17.0.6, 17.1.4, and 17.2.2. The flaw resides in RefMatcher, GitLab's component for handling Git references. It involves a ReDoS (Regular Expression Denial of Service) issue when processing branch names using wildcards. An attacker can exploit this vulnerability by sending specially crafted input to trigger excessive backtracking, resulting in a denial-of-service condition.
