Details
Summary
CVE-2024-26738 is a Linux kernel vulnerability affecting PowerPC and pSeries systems. When dynamically adding a PCI device, the kernel encounters a NULL pointer dereference due to incomplete initialization of the pci_controller. This issue occurs because a newly added iommu_device structure is not properly registered during DLPAR add, leading to a kernel oops. The commit "powerpc/iommu: Add iommu_ops to report capabilities and allow blocking domains" introduced this problem. To mitigate this vulnerability, the iommu device must be registered during DLPAR add as well.
