Summary
CVE-2024-21574 is a newly disclosed cybersecurity vulnerability that affects the /customnode/install endpoint used for installing custom nodes in a server through extensions. The issue arises due to a missing validation of the pip field in POST requests. An attacker can exploit this flaw by crafting a malicious request, causing the server to trigger a pip install on a user-controlled package or URL. This results in remote code execution (RCE) on the server, allowing an attacker to gain unauthorized access and potentially cause significant damage.
