CVE-2024-13697

Summary

CVE-2024-13697 is a Server-Side Request Forgery (SSRF) vulnerability affecting the Better Messages plugin for WordPress, BuddyPress, PeepSo, Ultimate Member, and BuddyBoss. Versions up to 2.7.4 are impacted, allowing unauthenticated attackers to make web requests to arbitrary locations from the web application. This vulnerability can be exploited to query and modify information from internal services, and requires the "Enable link previews" feature to be enabled (default). Attackers can potentially gain unauthorized access to sensitive information or perform actions that could negatively impact the system. Users are advised to update to the latest version of the plugin to mitigate this risk.
