Summary
CVE-2024-13576 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Gumlet Video plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 1.0.3, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts. The vulnerability stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the plugin's 'gumlet' shortcode. As a result, any page containing an injected shortcode will execute the malicious script whenever a user accesses it. This poses a significant security risk, as attackers can leverage this vulnerability to steal sensitive information or perform actions on behalf of the user. Upgrading to the latest version of the plugin is highly recommended to mitigate this risk.
