Details
Summary
CVE-2024-12528 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the WordPress Survey & Poll plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in versions up to 1.7.5, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access or higher to inject arbitrary web scripts via the plugin's 'wpsurveypoll_results' shortcode. The insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes enable the attacker to execute scripts whenever a user accesses an injected page. This could lead to unintended actions, data theft, or even complete website takeover. It is essential to update the plugin to the latest version as soon as possible to mitigate this risk.
