Details
Summary
CVE-2024-12499 is a stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the WP jQuery DataTable plugin for WordPress. The issue, present in all versions up to 4.0.1, stems from inadequate input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes within the plugin's 'wp_jdt' shortcode. This weakness grants authenticated attackers, those with contributor-level access and above, the capability to inject malicious web scripts into pages. These scripts will execute whenever a user visits an injected page, potentially leading to unintended actions, data theft, or site defacement.
