Summary
CVE-2024-12453 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the Uptodown APK Download Widget plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 0.1.2, allows authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above to inject malicious scripts into the plugin's 'utd-widget' shortcode. The insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes enable the execution of these scripts whenever a user visits an injected page. This vulnerability poses a significant risk to websites using the Uptodown plugin, potentially leading to data theft, unauthorized account access, or other malicious activities. It is crucial for WordPress users to update the plugin to the latest version to mitigate this threat.
