Summary
CVE-2024-12445 is a Stored Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) vulnerability affecting the RightMessage WP plugin for WordPress. This issue, present in all versions up to 0.9.7, stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping on user-supplied attributes in the 'rm_area' shortcode. As a result, authenticated attackers with contributor-level access and above can inject malicious web scripts that will execute whenever a user accesses an injected page. This poses a significant security risk, as it can lead to data theft, unauthorized account access, and other malicious activities. Users are strongly advised to update to the latest version of the plugin to mitigate this vulnerability.
