Summary

CVE-2024-12401: A newly discovered vulnerability affects the cert-manager package. This issue enables an attacker with the ability to manipulate PEM data read by the cert-manager, typically in a Secret resource, to cause significant CPU usage in the cert-manager controller pod. The excessive CPU consumption leads to a potential Denial-of-Service (DoS) attack against the cert-manager within the cluster. This vulnerability underscores the importance of securing access to sensitive data and components in a Kubernetes environment.
